sickness

So, Bebo's party was scheduled for today, nothing insanely huge, but a party nonetheless. Well, yesterday I did my normal call school during lunch to check on kids, and they said Maddox seemed a little out of sorts, and was running a low grade temp. GREAT. I was a little optimistic that maybe it was nothing, teeth maybe? I held out hope...but alas, 45 minutes my phone rang and he was up to 101, again, GREAT. I got things worked out at school and headed to pick up the babies.

On the way there I called the ped office, because there is too much flu and RSV going around right now for me to have a sick baby on a Friday. Luckily they could see us a little later, peace of mind is worth a co-pay ANY day. On a positive note, he didn't think it was flu or RSV, but the poor Bebo has an ear infection in both ears. BOO, this is our first ever medication-needing illness for either kid, so we know we have been lucky, but still, BOO.

So I spent the afternoon canceling his party. I know, just an ear infection, but I am telling you, FLU is BAD right now, and what if this was just the beginning of something and I had that party and all our little friends got sick. Y'all, I would feel so bad! On a good note, Bebo doesn't know, on a bad note, it will be months before we can reschedule.

We went ahead and did an easy dinner (pizza) and cake and ice cream with grandparents tonight so that he could smash cake in his face and have a big time. It was a big time indeed, and he has really perked up today, no fever, and he's been his happy self (with the addition of some stool issues that are antibiotic driven I am sure).

On a not-so-great note...by the time we left grandparents tonight, Mollee was sluggish, borderline miserable, and HOT. When we got home, her temp was 102, great. The girl was ASKING to go to bed, and if that isn't a sign of something, I don't know what is! I am really hoping for a great night of sleep for her and hopefully she will wake up feeling a little better, although I've already told Jon to be ready to stay home on Monday.

Anyway, Happy Birthday Party Day sweet Bebo!
The REAL big day is Friday, which will conclude the fastest year of my life.
